New Prep Course for New Volunteers
We will shortly be offering a chance for new volunteers to come and complete their training before they then work with families on a one to one basis or within one of our stay and play groups across the district.

Dad Matters Wakefield Perinatal dads Group
Dad matters Wakefield had out first perinatal dads group of the autumn- winter months , superbly attended with a brilliant bunch dads, sharing stories, supporting each other and having time with their children. Thank you Sunbeam Family Hub – Lupset for the use of this brilliant facility
Home-Start Wakefield & District – Annual General meeting
On Wednesday 8 October we held our Annual General Meeting. This gave us the opportunity to celebrate the work our staff, volunteers and trustees do; but also celebrate the families we support on a one to one basis and also in groups.
We had some families talk about how we have helped them and one of our Trustee’s who is also a volunteer gave us an insight into why he volunteers for Home-Start and how you can too!
We held our annual seaside trip for families on 20 August 2025
We were able to offer the trip to local families who are supported by Home-Start Wakefield, Dad Matters Wakefield and Dad Matters Barnsley, many of whom would not normally be able to afford to take their family to the seaside.
It was a fantastic day and everyone had a great time
Volunteer week – 2-5 June 2025
In June we invited our volunteers to come along to the office for afternoon tea to celebrate all their hard work and dedication to the families they work with across the Wakefield and surrounding areas.
